NOW Construction Project Update

After meeting with TCI and the subcontractors on Wednesday morning, the timetable has changed for the completion of the building and renovation project.  Originally, TCI was going to shut down operations in April and May and finish the project in the summer months.  Now, it appears that TCI and the subcontractors will continue to renovate the interior of the existing building through the spring months with a completion date of July 15.  Important updated information is:

  • Expected date to move into the east addition is the week of March 28.
  • Due to heat duct issues and a need to flush the heating system, there will be no heat available in the three new classrooms where the old high school office and cafeteria use to be.  This also includes the new faculty lounge and workroom.  Those new rooms will remain empty until they are heated or the weather cooperates where we will need no heat in the entire K-12 building.
  • The masons will block in a dividing wall in the current band room.
  • Bette Ferries, Lisa Stoikes, and Teresa Gibson's classrooms will be moved immediately after classroom furniture and supplies are moved into the east addition.  These three staff members will occupy the current weight room, and the two rooms made by dividing the current band room.
  • Gary Von Ruden will probably be moved temporarily into the current vocal music room.
  • Denise Buckbee will be moved temporarily into the new classroom in the east addition behind Jan Brueggeman's classroom.
TCI plans on renovating the current shop and Ag rooms first into the new FACE room and remodeled Ag room.  They will also start in the three classrooms by the new gymnasium and renovate them into the new district offices.

Electrical and data portal work will start in the elementary classrooms this spring yet.  This will be done when your classrooms are not being used. (Nights, Weekends).

I will continue to update you as more evolves with the project over the next three weeks.

Thank you for your patience during the construction and renovation project.
